G-Shock Shut Down Carnival With Their 2022 Yard Party

Celebrated watch company G-Shock were able to make their mark on Notting Hill Carnival with a sensational ‘Yard Party’. Powered by Wave Mag X NOBO, the exclusive event set the tone for the bank holiday weekend and carried the carnival atmosphere into the night. 

G-Shock’s Yard Party was situated in the heart of Notting Hill and stayed true to the values of the historic Carnival. Southam Street, where the party was located, is widely recognised as the area where Notting Hill Carnival’s rich and vibrant history began. DJ Keyrah set the tone with her set as the guests piled in, mixing some Carnival classics with contemporary hits and getting everyone in the part mood. Every guest was well looked after, with Mama’s Pet Kitchen supplying the jerk chicken and rice and peas, along with some Carnival themed cocktails.

Kenny Allstar was next to bless the stage and the legendary 1Xtra DJ did not disappoint. Kenny is known as a pioneering ‘voice of the streets’, elevating black music and culture and giving it the platform it deserves. Not only did he show love to the songs that make Notting Hill Carnival what it is, Kenny was also able to bring out Sneakbo as a special guest. The legendary South London rapper, who Drake has cited as one of his earliest influences, shut down the stage and got everyone on the jet ski wave. 

With the crowd already warmed up, Izzy Bossy rounded off the evening with a killer set that kept the vibes going long into the evening. The Southam Street location, coupled with the traditional food and music selections are demonstrative of the fact that G-Shock, Wave Mag, and NOBO all paid homage to the Caribbean and sound system culture that makes Notting Hill Carnival so unique. At the end of the evening, each guest was gifted a G-Shock T-shirt to commemorate the occasion. Although the party may have been G-Shock’s first at Carnival, the execution and the atmosphere of the event was second to none and could well be a staple of the Notting Hill Carnival weekend in the future.
