Twitter’s Character Limit To Be Raised From 280 To 4000 Characters
12 Dec 2022
Twitter will abandon it roots as a micro-blogging site, CEO Elon Musk confirmed as he announced the platform will increase the tweet character limit from 280 to 4,000.
A Twitter user ask the space obsessed billionaire whether the character limit increase was true which Musk responded simply with: “Yes.”
Musk first alluded to a potential character count increase in November tweeting it was “on the todo list.”
Twitter originally had a character limit of 140 before it was increased to 280 in 2017.
Twitter also announced over the weekend that it plans to relaunch its Twitter Blue subscription service, offering users a verified blue checkmark, the ability to edit tweets and upload higher-resolution 1080p videos.
Twitter Blue will relaunch with a higher price of $11/month (£9) for iPhone users after Musk criticised Apple’s 30% commission taken from in-app purchases.
