Medical history was made after a baby boy from Iraq became the first child in the world documented to be born with three penises.

The condition that known as triphallia, left the boy with two penises that did not perform like functioning organs, having no being unable to urinate, and not connected to the boy’s reproductive system.

Originally brought to the hospital by his parents when he was 3 months old due to swelling in the scrotum doctors observed that he in fact had 2 extra phallic members.

“To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case with three penises or triphallia,” wrote Dr. Shakir Saleem Jabali in a study on the treble-membered tyke published in the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports.

The decision was made to relieve the boy of his two redundant penises, with the surgery being a success and the child reportedly healthy and fully recovered the following year.

Doctors said that in this case the boy had no evidence of other health issues, with an investigation revealing that he had not been exposed to alcohol or drugs during the pregnancy.

More commonly doctors come across diphallia, a condition where a child is born with two penises, which affects one in six million boys.
