Gareth Southgate Has Left His Role As England Manager After Almost 8 Years In Charge

Gareth Southgate has left his role as England National team manager following the three lions 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euros 2024 final! It brings an end to his nearly eight year tenure.
“It has been the honour of my life to play for and manage England,” Southgate stated. “I have given it my all, but it’s time for a change and a new chapter. Sunday’s final against Spain in Berlin was my last game as England manager.”
The FA had hoped to keep Southgate, with an extension offered to him before the conclusion of England’s Euros campaign on Sunday.
Southgate, 53, took charge of the Three Lions in autumn 2016. In his time as England manager he took them to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the quarter-finals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup and back to back Euros finals in London 2020 and Berlin 2024.
