Bebo Returning As ‘New Social Network’

Bebo is an instantly recognisable name to anyone raised in the 2000’s. An early rendition of what we would consider social media the site seemed to see its final days in 2013 when it filed for bankruptcy. But now we know it will be returning in February 2021.

At its peak it had about 40 million users and it was sold by Michael and Xochi Birch to AOL for $850 million in 2008. They bought it back for $1 million, with plans to “re-invent” it.

If you go to the site you’ll see a splash page with a message reading:

“PLEASE NOTE: All old data and photos were lost many years ago and are not recoverable. Sorry.”

Right now it’s “currently in private beta” and you need a password to get past the splash page but Bebo is coming back. Will you be jumping on Bebo next month ?
