Multi-talented artist Poppy Ajudha has come through to unveil her highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘Poppy’ – a project that reflects her growth both as a musician and an individual.

Following her 2022 debut, THE POWER IN US, this new release showcases a more vulnerable and introspective side of the St. Lucian-born, London-raised singer-songwriter. The album boasts contributions from industry heavyweights like Mike Malchicoff (Kanye West, King Princess), Maestro (Rihanna), Fred Ball (Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey), and others, ensuring a polished yet deeply personal production. Poppy’s journey in creating the album took her between London and Los Angeles, with each song undergoing countless revisions to craft a project she calls “an outward pouring of my raw vulnerability.”

The lead track, ‘Somebody To Love’, highlights Poppy’s self-reflective lyricism. Co-written with Trey Campbell and Josh Grant, and produced by Malchicoff and Maestro, the euphoric anthem delves into how childhood experiences shape our understanding of love. Poppy describes it as a reckoning with patterns from her past and a conscious effort to invite healthier love into her life after a difficult relationship. “We all want somebody to love and to be loved in return,” she explains, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness and growth in making meaningful connections. The accompanying music video complements the track’s emotional depth, amplifying its message of self-discovery and renewal.

Beyond ‘Somebody To Love’, ‘Poppy’ includes standout singles such as ‘My Future’, marking her return after a two-year hiatus, and ‘Lean On Me’, a bold track about the value of community support. Meanwhile, the pop-infused ‘Girl Next Door’ captures the excitement of first queer love, and the hopeful ‘Ready’ explores the risks and rewards of love. Together, these tracks expand Poppy’s sonic palette while retaining the societal and personal depth she is known for. With ‘Poppy’, the artist cements her position as a vital voice in British music, blending poignant storytelling with fresh musical directions.

Poppy’s impact extends far beyond music. Her artistry has received acclaim from NME, Clash, and BBC Radio 1, while her performances at prestigious events like Glastonbury and London Pride highlight her ability to connect with audiences worldwide. In fashion and art, collaborations with Dior and Nike, and her role in Naomi Campbell’s Fashion for Relief event, further showcase her multifaceted talents. As Poppy’s new album continues to resonate, it reaffirms her status as an essential figure, blending artistic integrity with a bold, personal narrative that challenges and inspires.
