The Chart Update: Central Cee Debuts At #2

The Chart Update is a colourful display of the higher frequency of urban acts seeing commercial success. In the past week, we’ve welcomed new releases from a number of the UK’s leading emcees and now, we’re looking at an impressive turnout.

Let’s get straight to the headlining news. West London’s emerging MC, Central Cee, has shot up to #2 on the UK Official Album chart with his groundbreaking ‘Wild West’ mixtape! He’s still a relatively new addition to the scene, yet has been catapulted by strong first week sales – for a debut project that would’ve earned first place had it been any other week.

It’s a good week for Brit rap when Digga D’s ‘Made In The Pyrex’ mixtape is still in the top 20 running after three consecutive weeks.

What’s more? An unexpected arrival on the Official Singles Chart is teenage duo, A1 and J1 who are riding the wave of their breakout “Latest Trends” single. Manchester’s hitmaker, Aitch, was enlisted on their official remix which has given the youngsters a promising start to their music career.

You can also find Central Cee’s hot singles, “Commitment Issues” and “6 For 6”, at #9 and #16 on the singles listings. Each coming with their highly-viewed visuals, the rapper’s campaign has been huge but not half as big as his debut performance!
