I recently had the opportunity to sit down and interview Deto The King an 18-year-old upcoming rapper from North London who recently dropped his debut 3 track EP Flavours.

How would you best describe the music you make to someone who may have not have heard of you or your music before?

” Id best describe it as umm, very versatile, out the box. You can expect lots of different things from me, different flows, different genres. My music just very real as well I’m just tryna talk for the streets “

How did you get the stage name, Deto The King?

” Deto is my second name and when Instagram first started I knew I wanted King in my name. I first thought of King Deto but didn’t like how it sounded. I changed it to Deto The king and it just been that ever since. “

You just dropped your EP flavors, which absolutely bangs by the way. What was the thought process and inspiration behind the EP and what makes it different from your previous tracks like hundreds ?

” Thank you, Id say flavours is an upgrade compared to my other songs like Hundreds. Hundreds was recorded all the way back in 2015 and I wasn’t very consistent. So this time going into the studio and recording the Ep Flavours. I levelled up, I definitely found myself more in music terms. And when it comes to the title. I feel like each of the 3 songs on the EP do have very different flavours in regards to the sound. Danger is very different to Flavours and Slime Problems is very different from Danger. They each got their own flavour.”

Was there anyone or anything in particular that inspired you too pursue music ?

” I’ve been wanting to do music since I was young. One of the people who played a big part in inspiring me to do music was definitely Michale Jackson. Then after him, I wouldn’t say there was a person. It was more the culture, the scene, the movement just made me want to be a musician. I started singing when I was little. Then I got older and became more influenced by the streets and hip-hop. “

If you could collaborate with any artist in the world . Living, dead, this generation, other generations, maybe even someone who hasn’t blown yet. Who would it be?

” I would like to make a song with Travis Scott cos I feel like me and him would definitely make some good stuff. I would like to work with Rihanna, heard she moved to London so who knows might buck her one day. In regards to the past I would definitely like to make a song with Biggie, cos he’s just so real, different and versatile.”

With the EP out, what can we expect from you next? Singles, videos maybe another tape? Whats next from Deto The King ?

“I’m dropping a mixtape soon the EP was just the warm-up. Its gonna be called the 3rd point of view. Gonna drop that in like a months time. Its gonna have 13 songs. A lot more videos coming. But yeah the mixtapes gonna be the next big thing.

Deto The Kings 3 track ep Flavours is available on all streaming services and the Music video for his single Flavours can be found on the Mixtape Madness youtube channel.

Deto is definitely one to watch. With versatile music and small but very supportive team behind him. I am very excited to see what the future holds for the Enfield born and raised rapper.
