East London based brand and online video channel REPVDO (say it like this: rep video) have taken it upon themselves to undergo the challenging, strenuous, yet rewarding and exciting task of bringing a whole WEEK OF GRIME to our eyes and ears.

REPVDO currently air a weekly cypher show called #1Take, which features not only grime artists but some of the best rap MCs around, and the best part about REPVDO as a brand is that they fully support all artists they feature, whether they are unsigned, got mad hype, or are totally unheard of. Oh, and they never charge for a video.

So what else sets REPVDO apart from other brands? Founder and creative director Paul Anthony explains:

Our outlook is unique for this scene. But regardless of that, we really really care about producing the best quality footage, because we want to elevate the standard of urban entertainment. When an artist comes down [to HQ], regardless of whether they’re known or unknown, we make sure the sound is good, the lighting is good, and we don’t stop until we get the take.

Paul goes on to explain why REPVDO choose not to charge artists for footage:

Charging artists is a primitive business model. We want to develop a strong brand that has earning potential of its own, with the hope that some day we can distribute that revenue to the artists.

Starting Monday 14th May, REPVDO will be shooting footage for their one-off week long series of videos showcasing both upcoming and established grime MCs. They are on the look out for talented rappers with the enthusiasm for getting their names heard and the determination to be known up and down the country.
