Red Bull Music returns to Notting Hill Carnival for the 10th year with its biggest programme of events to date. The events will be paying respect to Carnival’s rich heritage, prolific present and emerging future. Mixtape Madness will be attending and covering the event so make sure to watch out for us.

Celebrating Carnival the Red Bull way

Red Bull Music will host an open-to-all sound system on Sunday 26th August. They will then be teaming up with Mangrove to mark the local mas band’s 40th year anniversary on Monday 27th! To get in the carnival spirit, Red Bull Music will also be hosting a series of free, pre-carnival workshops at Mangrove HQ on Monday 20th.

Mangrove x Red Bull Music at Carnival

Matthew Phillip, leader of Mangrove and director of this year’s Notting Hill Carnival says:

“We’re excited to team-up with Red Bull Music once more as we mark our long history at Carnival. We’re going to be building on last year’s collaboration, bringing over some of the best soca acts and creating the biggest truck on the road for our 40th anniversary!”

Ahead of the two-part carnival celebration, Mangrove’s West London HQ will house a series of free workshops. Attendees will learn from Mangrove’s carnival masters sharing skills crafted over their 40-years at Notting Hill.

First up, there’ll be an opportunity to rehearse with Mangrove’s legendary steel band. The second workshop will be an insight into how the group create their trademark feather and sequin apparel and Mangrove’s chief choreographers, Sunshine and Nadiva, will guide carnival ravers through a carnival procession routine in the third session. Finally, Mangrove’s resident chef Fats will be on hand to walk attendees through the making of carnival’s quintessential dish: jerk chicken. All workshops are free and operate on a first-come-first-served basis. Sign-up to receive details on redbull.com/carnival.
Lastly, to get everyone in the mood, fans can tune into Red Bull Radio for a selection of highlights from Red Bull sound systems gone by, featuring performances from the likes of; WizKid, P Montana, Stefflon Don and Conducta.
