Radio Radio launch their very own Academy!

Radar Radio have launched their brand new Academy which will now continue until the 27th August with an additional guest workshop run by international publication DAZED. The academy aims to break down the barriers that exist in the music industry through live experiences, demos and mentoring at Radar Radio’s East London studio.

With diminishing opportunities for young people to express their creativity in London, Radar want to create paths, open doors and promote untapped talent to the city and the world at large.

THE (REMAINING) WORKSHOPS

Music Production (6th August) – Applications Closed

This beginners workshop will guide you through the ins and outs of using Logic and will cover everything from beat creations, VST, effects, sampling, mixdown and mastering with Ezro, Mischeif, Treble Clef + Casskidd.

DJing – Grime & Hip-Hop (13th August)

This introductory course to DJing grime and hip-hop will be led by our resident DJs Mister Bounce, Alia Loren and Jack Dat, teaching the basics of beatmatching, blending and more.

DJing – Bass & Club (20th August)

Our second introductory course to DJing will focus on electronic and bass music and will be led by our resident DJs Conducta, Amy Becker & Hipster’s Don’t Dance.

MUSIC JOURNALISM – Dazed (27th August)

Attendees of the music journalism workshop will have the chance to be taught the likes of pitching, feature writing, interview technique, starting an online publication, and getting paid for your work. The mentors are: Selim Bulut, the music editor of Dazed & Confused; Charlie Brinkhurst-Cuff, freelance music writer and contributor to publications including DAZED, The Guardian, Crack Magazine, and VICE; and Tomas Fraser, who has written for a variety of places including FACT, Boiler Room, The Quietus, Clash, and Dummy.

Radar Radio will provide all equipment and materials needed except for laptops – selected students must bring their own. As well as scheduled sessions, attendees can spend time in the station to experience daily live Radar broadcasts, hang out with DJs, record demos, and book free DJ sessions in our practice rooms.
